Intelligent Fraud Prevention

Alfred SCO offers several features for loss prevention during self-checkout.
 
Items can be verified by using one or several of the following anti-theft solutions:
 
  • EAS/RFID tag deactivation
  • A security scale in the bagging area that verifies that the scanned item’s weight matches the weight database
  • Intelligent tri-light with an integrated security camera that detects which product it being scanned and uncovers any type of scan avoidance and other types of schemes 
Any discrepancies are recorded and the self-checkout attendant as well as the store’s security team can be alerted.

Cash, Card and Contactless

Payment is easy and quick with support for debit and credit cards, contactless, mobile, and cash payment through the current POS system. Brackets are available for the most popular payment terminals and additional brackets can be added on demand. The optional cash management module offers advanced coin and paper bill recycling.

AI-driven SCO Software  

In addition to the hardware and furniture, Starling includes a module-based self-checkout software with easy step-by-step instructions and a customizable checkout flow and user interface. Starling controls all the peripherals such as the security and produce scale, barcode scanner, tri-light, and security cameras. By leveraging artificial intelligence to analyze data, Starling generates fewer interventions and provides advanced theft detection. 

 

Starling is POS agnostic and can easily be integrated with your store’s current POS software. Partner Tech offers an API toolkit for integration with POS software, loyalty systems, and other ISV solutions. 

Real-time Monitoring

Partner Tech offers the capability to track and proactively manage Starling remotely, in real-time. This is a critical component in ensuring a successful rollout. It quickly identifies and resolves issues to minimize downtime and provide early detection of negative trends, allowing retailers to quickly make adjustments to increase usage and prevent fraud. 
 
Certain events can trigger an alert to be sent to a store associate, store manager, or the store’s IT support. 
 
With better insight into the performance of the self-checkout, retailers can make smarter decisions and take action to improve the performance and profitability of the SCO system. This valuable data makes the difference between failure and success. As an example, with visibility to the top items that cause interventions, retailers can take measures to reduce fraud and make small adjustments to make the SCO more efficient to use.
